The Portageville Bulldogs hit the court early this morning (9:00 am) for a MSHSAA Class 2 Semifinal game against Miller.
Early on it looks as though the Bulldogs will run away with the game...But as soon as they build a lead the Miller Cardinals keep it from getting out of hand. A 8-0 run to end the first quarter helped Miller take a 2-point lead after eight minutes. Miller built it's largest lead of the first half early in the second quarter.
Portageville fans can smile...The Bulldogs wiped the sleep from their eyes and woke-up. A pair of early 3's from Bruce Mathis and a 10-run put Portageville out in front 25-19 and hit halftime leading 27-25.
{Second Half}
I would love to know what head coach Jim Bidewell said to his team at haltime...It's working!
The Bulldogs are catching fire and trying to run Miller out of the Mizzou Arena. Thanks to a big third quarter the Bulldogs lead 54-44 with 2:15 remaining in the game. I think It's safe to say Portageville will play for a Class 2 State Championship. The Title game will be played Friday at 12:20 pm...Should Miller comeback to win the Bulldogs would play in the consolation game set for Friday at 9:00 am.
Bulldogs lead 55-47 with 2:00 to go...
FINAL:
Portageville 60
Miller 53
Donnell Minnis leads the Bulldogs with 14
Way to go Bulldogs! We are so proud of you! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteCoach Bidewell said his team did not play it's best basketball but he's happy his kids never gave up...They kept pluggin away.
ReplyDeleteHopefully they can begin the Championship game Friday with more energy...They started slow against Miller (I'm sure a 9:00 am tipp-off didn't help).
