Portageville Wins The Class 2 Championship

Portageville and Harrisburg are ready to tip-off in the Class 2 Championship. I watched some of Harrisburg's semifinal game yesterday... They will be a tough team for Jim Bidewell and company to beat. Cory Via scored 48 of Harrisburgs 81 points.

Stay tuned... more to come.

1st QTR:
Wow... Portageville looks strong! Leading Harrisburg 24-10 after one quarter.
Buron Wright leads Portageville with 11. Cory Via has been held to only one bucket.

2nd QTR:
Wow...Not in a good way. The tide turned in favor of Harrisburg.
Portageville was leading 30-12 and looking to put the game away, but Max Manning was fouled and started a 13-0 run. Cory Via hit a pair of 3's and Harrisburg was able to pull to within 5 at 30-25.
Portageville woke up and hit a lay in and three pointer to end the half leading 35-5.

Byron Wright has 11 points and Bruce Mathis has 10.

3rd QTR:
It was back and forth... Both teams enjoying brief runs. Harrisburg is creaping back into the game...trailing 47-42 at the end of the 3rd qtr. Harrisburg star Cory Via has 11 points and 4 fouls.

4th QTR:
Cory Via just fouled out with 11 points... 6:24 to go Portageville leading 52-44.
Donnell Minnis just fouled out with 8 points...2:45 to go Portageville leading 54.-53

:41 seconds to go Portageville leads 57-53 and has the ball shooting free throws. It's looking good!

  2. Anyone have any good photos of Coach Bidewell and his players they could share with me? I am his aunt and his great uncle (my dad--age 98!) is an old coach and ref and loves to know what Jim and his teams are doing! Jim's dad, Ben Bidewell, in Poplar Bluff, is my uncle.
