Show Me Sellout

Only days remain until the Redhawks regular season finale...It's Saturday night the 27th hosting Austin Peay. Southeast is making a push to pack the building...calling it the Show-Me-Sell Out.

The Show Me Center holds just over seven thousand people and as of Sunday night five thousand tickets have been sold.

The last time the show me center was sold out for a redhawks game... over ten years ago... february 12th 2000.

I remember it well... it was an NCAA Tournament-like atmosphere with the Murray State Racers winning 77-60. The Redhawks (Indians at the time) did not lose again until falling to LSU in the first round of the Big Dancein Salt Lake City.

I hope the Show Me Sell Out is a huge success and it helps energize SEMO basketball fans.

With the young raw talent on the roster and additions in key areas I honestly believe the programs fortunes will drastically improve under head coach Dickey Nutt.

The team has been fun to watch all season and I'm already looking forward to next season.

Changes To OVC Hoops Tournament?

If this is true I say it's about time.

--- --- ---
News from the Ohio Valley Conference... According to a release sent out late Sunday night OVC officals will hold a press conference Monday morning in Nashville to announce changes to mens and womens Conference basketball tournament. The changes will not effect the upcoming tournament.

According to a reliable source we can expect the entire tournament to be held in Nashville which would eliminate opening round games at campus sites.
The tournament would move from two days to four days in the Music City and be played at the Municipal Auditorium.

Todd Richards will have much more on the announcement Monday on Heartland News.

Incredible Dunk From LaQuentin Miles

Special thanks to James LaBine at SEMO for shooting this highlight of Redhawks freshman guard LaQuentin Miles. One of the best dunks you'll see.

Southeast lost the game Saturday night to Morehead State but did show (as they have done all season) flashes of better things to come for the program.

Looks Promising For Rams To Stay In St. Louis

This appears to be good news for St. Louis Rams fans. I really hope they stay. I have finally gotten the point where I no longer associate them with Los Angeles.

--- --- ---

St. Louis (AP) - Published reports say the majority owners of the St. Louis Rams have reached an agreement to sell the team to Illinois businessman Shahid Khan.

The Web site for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the online newspaper Globe-Democrat.com cited unnamed sources in reporting the sale.
Publish Post
Calls from The Associated Press to the Rams, Khan and the NFL office were not immediately returned Thursday. Khan is the 55-year-old president of an auto parts manufacturer. STLtoday.com reports he will purchase the 60 percent of the Rams owned by Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriguez.

The sale would need to be approved by NFL owners.

League sources told STLtoday.com that Khan is a Rams fan who is committed to keeping the team in St. Louis.

Cape Colts Fans Bleed Blue

Cheering for the Indianapolis Colts may be the "in" thing to do but Indiana native and Cape Girardeau resident Troy Vaughn has been a fan since before the Mayflower moving trucks ever left Baltimore.

"When I was a little kid I was watching playoffs and they (Baltimore Colts) were
playing the Raiders and somehow I became a Colts fan then," said Vaughn. "And
being from Indianapolis the kids grew up being Colts fans before we moved here
(to Cape)."
When Troy says it's a family affair he is not kidding. The Vaughn's (daughter Allison, his wife Lori and son Casey) love their Colts.

"I love Peyton Manning, I look up to them every day," said Casey. "Reggie
Wayne, Dallas Clark - They are just so cool to watch and I'm so glad to be a fan
of them."
A few years ago Casey wrote a report about his favorite team which got a responce from (at the time) head coach Tony Dungy.

"I wanted to get more information about the Colts so I sent a letter to Tony Dungy and it was when they went to the playoffs and Super Bowl in 2006," said Casey. "Tony wrote back and said thanks for the encouragement and sorry he couldn't give any more information because they were so busy and he sent me an autographed picture."
The Vaughn's have taken a page out of the Colts play book. Everyone is on board looking for the same thing...a Colts victory. Even their ten year old daughter Allison is a big time fan.

"It's real exciting to watch all the plays and see all the fans cheering and
being crazy about their favorite NFL team," said Allison.

For What It's Worth....

For what it's worth here is my prediction for Super Bowl XXIV. I'm sure you life will now be complete.

Here goes....
Drum roll please....
I like the Colts to beat the Saints 34-17.

Honestly would not be shocked if the Saints won (their offense is capable). I am just not sold on their ability to stop Peyton.

Plus, my wife is a huge Peyton fan (she was in college at Tennessee when he was there).

Hopefully my wife doesn't read this because I wouldn't mind seeing the Saints win the game. It's one of my favorite cities in the country. I could live off crawfish etoufee, beignets and cafe au lait's from Cafe Du Monde.
